Mr. Mario Fava
Mario was elected President of the Local Councils’ Association in 2017. Since then, he has played a leading role in raising the profile of local government and the role of the Association.
On a national political level, he occupied the post of a member in the Labour Party National Executive and later as the President of the Labour Party Local Government Section. He is also a member of the Labour Party Administration. He contested the Local Councils elections for the first time in 2002 and was elected as a Councillor within the Swieqi Local Council. He also served as a Councillor in the Fgura Local Council from 2017 to 2024.
He is a board member for the Traffic Management Committee by Transport Malta, the Users Committee by Planning Authority, the Malta Communications Authority Board, the Civil Society Committee, MCESD, Projects+, Resource, Recovery and Recycling Agency and Civil Protection Council.
Internationally, he is a member of the Committee of the Regions in Brussels, SEDEC and NAT Commissions. Mario is also the Head of the Maltese Delegation for both the Committee of the Regions and the Congress of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
